General recovery
- Rest, and increase your activity gradually as advised
- Take pain relief and any other medicines exactly as prescribed
- Drink plenty of fluids unless you have been told otherwise
- Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for as long as you are advised
- Attend your follow-up appointment
After nose or sinus surgery (if advised)
- Avoid blowing your nose until you are told it is safe
- Sneeze with your mouth open
- Use saline rinses or sprays only as instructed
Contact your doctor promptly if you have
- A fever, or pain that is getting worse instead of better
- Increasing swelling, redness, or discharge with a bad smell
- Difficulty drinking, or signs of dehydration (very little urine, dizziness)
Seek emergency care immediately if you have
- Bleeding from the mouth or nose that does not stop
- Difficulty breathing
- Vomiting or coughing up blood
